What is Museum

Museum is a non-profit, permanent institution in service of society and its development, open to the public, which acquires conservers, researchers, communicates and exhibits the tangible and intangible heritage of humanity and its environment for the purposes of education, study and enjoyment.
However, from the above professional definition we can deduce that museums are:
1. Places where old things of historical/cultural interest are kept for the purpose of learning, teaching and research.
2. Museums are places where people can learn about the past.
3. Museums teach us by telling us about important people, places and things in our society.
4. Museums help us explore new ideas, understand the past and imagine our future.
5. Museums collect and take care of art and objects from the past that tell us how people live, what they enjoyed and what they are curious about.
